Indigenous Self-Identification

If you are an Indigenous student, we invite you to self-identify by completing our Indigenous Self-Identification Form. Any student may voluntarily self-identify as an Indigenous person.

For the purpose of this survey Indigenous is defined as below:

Definition: “Aboriginal Peoples of Canada” is defined in Section 35(2) Constitution Act, 1982. In this Act, “Aboriginal Peoples of Canada” included the Indian, Inuit, Métis Peoples of Canada. First Nation is sometimes used in place of the legal term Indian.

Information is kept confidential and no proof of ancestry is required.

Indigenous Student Self-Identification helps Confederation College to:

develop and provide program and services to champion the success of Indigenous students in postsecondary education and training
share information about Indigenous scholarships, bursaries and awards and employment opportunities
promote events and cultural activities for students
build an inclusive and respectful on campus community
