Welcome Message

This New Student Orientation will tell you everything you need to know to start your year off right and provide you with an overview of the supports and services available to you during your time at Confederation College.

By participating in this Orientation program, you will gain a deeper understanding of the following topics:

• College Learning Systems and Technology

• Student Success and Academic Supports

• Student Life

This section contains a significant amount of information regarding college services, IT services and how to's, Indigenous Services, International Services, and more, broken down by Thunder Bay Campus vs Regional Campuses and DE. All new students are encouraged to peruse this information as time allows.

• DE synchronous programs will have program orientation with their program Coordinators at the regular scheduled time - hybrid

  • 11:30am ET: Synchronous DE Campus Orientation

Program handbooks provide students with important information related to your program. Your program handbook also references information about your rights and responsibilities as a student, including academic and other policies.

To access your Program Handbook, find your program page via Program Search (opens in new tab) and select Download Handbook.

If you don’t see a handbook on your program page, that program does not have one posted. Contact your program coordinator for guidance.

Review your program map using Degree Works. Degree Works is an online audit tool that helps students, Program Coordinators, and Student Success Advisors manage and track academic progress. It makes it easy for you to see program requirements, what courses you have completed, and what you still need in order to graduate. Academic Dates Calendar

It is very important to review the Academic Dates Calendar for registration and academic dates and deadlines, as well as scheduled breaks for some programs. The Academic Dates Calendar may change throughout the year, so checking back if you're unsure of a deadline is always a good idea.

Some important dates for you to remember:

• September 8

  - Program Orientation and Activities

• September 9

  - Classes begin for most programs

• September 22

  - Last day to web register, change programs or add courses

• September 22

  - Last day for refund of fall semester fees

Student Success Week Within our Academic Dates Calendar, you will see Student Success Weeks scheduled for most programs in each semester. Student Success Week is what we call our fall, winter and spring semester breaks. These breaks are to provide you with time to catch up on course work, access student services and/or relax a little. The goal is to enhance your well-being and success by helping to reduce stress and anxiety. Learn more about Student Success Week (opens in new tab).

Student Success Week is what we call our fall, winter and spring semester breaks. The scheduled Student Success Weeks for the 2026/27 academic year are as follows:

• Fall semester: October 26 to 30, 2026

• Winter semester: March 1 to March 5, 2027

• Spring semester: June 21 to 25, 2027

Some exceptions will apply for programs with industry-specific accreditation and other requirements.
